… As Eswatini Cycling calendar starts
BY SABELO GWEBU
MBABANE– It will be a busy weekend for Kusekhaya Cycling.
The Eswatini Cycling calendar kicks off this weekend with the first MTB Race of the season.
All roads will be leading to Big Bend for the Sisekelo High School MTB Challenge which takes place on Saturday March 25 starting at 6am. This will prove to be a busy weekend for Kusekhaya Cycling Club as they will also be taking part in the MTB race and two others happening in neighboring South Africa.
“This weekend we will be having representation at Sisekelo and Cosmos 3 in 1 race taking place in Secunda, South Africa. On Sunday, another contingent of our cyclists will be racing at the Emperors Palace Classic in Johannesburg,” Mduduzi Kaudi, Team Principal announced.
He said due to the size of the club and geographic distribution of members, they were able to participate in multiple cities and countries on the same weekend which increases their sponsors reach.
Most MTB Races will see the club represented mostly by the youngsters. He added that MTB Races gave the opportunity for children to also exhibit their skills due to the set up as well as safety aspect in that the race takes place away from public traffic and the Sisekelo Race will see more of the club members’ children take part in the festivities
“This race being a school event, we believe that it will plant the cycling seed to more youngsters. We will make sure that we support all the races in the kingdom as well as the neighboring countries,” Kaudi said.
Kusekhaya Cycling also doubles as a race host in October.
