MBABANE– Despite the scourging COVID-19 and unrest that culminated in the burning of properties and schools, the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs managed to stay afloat and further provide jobs.
The Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Affairs provided over 500 jobs and further completed projects estimated to cost E110 million.
This is according to the Minister of Commerce Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo’s post-COVID-19 economic recovery report issued this week.
According to the report a project TreeTops game resort which is still at the implementation stage, has an estimated value of E25 million and an estimated number of employees is 80.
“The local investor is investing in a game resort near Big Bend and MA Properties is taking care of the projects. 60 percent of the employees are women,” read part of the report.
Meanwhile, Sibebe Resort has an estimate of 120 employees, and the project is still at the implementation stage where the investment value is E30 million.
“This local investor was busy investing in this expansion during COVID-19 and it is now paying off,” read the report in part.
Meanwhile Head of Business Community Melusi Dlamini said a lot was done in the country during COVID-19. He further explained that one would say the economy was really revived through the recovery plan. “Having gone through the report I think a lot of work was done and some of it shows, this is with the projects that have already been implemented. They read and look pretty impressive and as the business community, we can only admire and thank the government for such delivery,” said Dlamini.
