‘TRANSFORM LIVES AND LIVELIHOODS, COMMUNITIES AND NATIONS THROUGH SPORT’ – MADZE BULUNGA

MBABANE – Minister of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries Bulunga has called on African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region five countries to use sport to “transform lives and livelihoods, communities and nations through sport before and after the competitive years of our athletes.”

He was speaking during the official opening in Matsapha.

The meeting is attended by over thirty delegates from the Region five member countries namely: Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

“As a Region, we need to challenge ourselves to ensure that our orderliness and administrative excellence translates into medals and sustainable development, changing lives for our athletes and communities, the Minister said.

He said “Sport transcends the boundaries of industries. It provides the bedrock for sustainable socio-economic transformation.”

“The Kingdom of Eswatini remains steadfast in its support of all AUSC Region five programmes and activities and in working together with fellow Nations to advance sport development in the Region,” He said.

AUSC Region five Secretariat Chair Imon Bogosi: “Our decision to transform sport should never always be based on the financial affordability. Rather, our decisions should be based on our ability to plan in advance and our resolve and determination to invest in our youth,” He said.
