BHUNYA– Empowerment was the order of the day at Bhunya High School!

The Unite Against Depression Organisation is a non-profit organisation that deals with raising awareness on mental health issues to at-risk youth in a variety of ways, in different places at Eswatini. The founder of the organisation, Fisokuhle Mndzebele, stated that this is to build up and develop future leaders and end depression among the youth. Yesterday, the team of the organisation in collaboration with Bhunya Royal Eswatini Police Service [REPS] crime prevention, Psychiatric Centre were enlightening the students on the related issues of the youth. The Youth Alive also graced the school to talk about leadership and entrepreneurship skills.

The theme of the outreach was to utilize students with leadership and entrepreneurship skills through Positive Youth Development Theory. Not only that but enlighten them on the issues of crime since stated that crime done by students have heightened to its peak hence the need for such awareness. Mndzebele further mentioned that him and his team are working in preparing the students especially form5 since they are about to finish their journey in high school and face the world.

The main targets of this start-up organisation are high schools, tertiary institutions and churches since it contains the most population of the youth and these are the ones that are aware of decisions like this.

‘The teachers and the scholars displayed a positive response to the talks from the different spokespersons’ elaborated Mndzebele.

 Paul Nkhambule, the Director Founder of Youth Alive Organisation, stated that he was invited to empower the students to guide themselves and he mentioned the programmes of leadership they usually host for the youth. To the form3 and5s, his focus was to help them prepare for the upcoming exams.  Mndzebele said that they are looking for partners that work well with the youth and that focuses on mental health to help fight depression that destroys many lives out there.
