Today is the main and final day of the ceremony where the over 70 000 maidens will showcase their dance skills before Their Majesties and guests of the nation at the Ludzidzini Royal Residence Arena.
More people are expected to attend the ceremony since today is a national holiday in respect of the reed dance.
Imbali has shown respect and anticipation for the event set to take place today.
Inkhosatana Princess Sakhizwe successfully led maidens in the Reed Cutting Ceremony held at Mpisi Farm.
This traditional ceremony marks an important event in Swazi culture and is eagerly anticipated by the community.
The imbali, adorned in their traditional attire, gathered amidst joyful singing and dancing to embark on this significant occasion.
Led by Princess Sakhizwe, who exuded grace and elegance, the maidens engaged in the delicate task of cutting reeds from the surrounding field under the warm Swazi sun.
The reeds, carefully selected for their strength and beauty, hold symbolic significance in the kingdom.
They are used to construct the sacred structures in the Ludzidzini Royal Residence, where the reeds will be delivered to their Majesties in the coming days.
This evening, imbali will undertake the journey back to Ludzidzini Royal Residence, carrying the freshly cut reeds with great reverence.
Following their arrival, a day of rest will be observed to ensure the reeds are prepared and arranged meticulously. This meticulous preparation highlights the importance placed on presenting the reeds before their Majesties, who will grace the occasion with their presence.
The Reed Cutting Ceremony not only serves as a cultural celebration but also symbolises the unity and strength of the Swazi people. It fosters a sense of pride, identity, and connection to their ancestral roots.
