LOBAMBA – His Majesty King Mswati III has declared that this year’s Umhlanga Reed Dance ceremony will take place from 30 August to 5 September 2022. The announcement was made by Indvuna yeMbali Nonduduzo Zubuko.
The activities for this year’s ceremony are scheduled as such:
30 August 2022 – First day of registration
31 August 2022 – Maidens set out to various centres to cut the reed.
1 September 2022 – Maidens cut the reed
2 September 2022 – Maidens return to the Royal Kraal
3 September 2022 – Maidens take a break
4 September 2022 – Maidens deliver the reed before Their Majesties
