MBABANE – The world awaits Waffles!
Fresh from shutting down Pop Sunday at Albert Millin two weeks ago, Uncle Waffles has set another record by announcing that she would be touring the world.
She announced the tour on her Instagram page a few days ago and wrote, “The grace of constant growth, thank you, Lord. I’m in your city. Come kiss me link in bio for every show….” The tour is dubbed ‘Uncle Waffles Less Talk, More Piano.’
The world tour kicked off on Sunday (June 2, 2024) in Paris. Tomorrow (Thursday, June 7, 2024), she will be performing in Sweden. The tour will wrap up in Asia on November 29. Some of the places she will be touring include a few countries in Europe, Australia, North America, Asia, and Africa.
Born Lungelihle Zwane (24) in Manzini, Eswatini, the global DJ boasts off of 2.6 million followers on Instagram. She is also a record producer now based in South Africa.
Last month, she announced another milestone in her career as the first Amapiano act to perform at The Brooklyn Mirage in New York in the United States of America (USA). She will perform on August 18. The show, dubbed ‘We Love Waffles,’ will feature South African artists as well, namely Andre Power, Bambii, Kelvin Momo, 2WO Bunnies, and Oscar Mbo.
Early this year, she sold out her London, United Kingdom show dubbed We Love Waffles London, which was held on January 20. In February, Uncle Waffles got the nod for her electrical performance from USA artist Kelly Rowland, who came up to her to give her a warm hug in appreciation of her set at the United Masters Grammy Weekend Concert. Uncle Waffles, alongside Davido and Tokischa, were the headliners of the show. The concert was held at the Hollywood Palladium.
According to one of her pages, Waffles has been recognised by Rolling Stones, Forbes, CNN Variety, The New York Times, and Complex UK for her insane accomplishments throughout 2023, spanning from Solace and Asylum Extended Playlist EP releases, Coachella performances, and sold-out shows in New York.
She is noted for her work in the Amapiano genre and dance abilities, with Billboard describing her as the Princess of Amapiano. Waffles debut single, titled Tanzania, reached number one and went platinum in South Africa. She has gained the attention of some of the world’s biggest names, including Canadian rapper Drake. The world got to know about DJ after Drake shared a photo of her and sent a shout-out to her. He did that twice. He first joined her on Instagram Live and called her a top DJ. Waffles tweeted that she was super excited and screamed for a good 10 minutes.
