MBABANE – Eswatini born star, Uncle Waffles, following her sold-out show in Brooklyn, is returning to NYC for her biggest show to date on September 22, 2023.
With special guests lined up for surprise performances, one can expect top-tier production at NYC’s venue, Avant Gardner.
“We are days away from ‘ We Love Uncle Waffles NY, come rock with me my babies. Who am I seeing, limited tickets available,” read the caption by Uncle Waffles when confirming the upcoming gig.
In just one year, the princess of Amapiano, Uncle Waffles has become a global sensation, releasing massive records and receiving support from global superstars like Diplo, Major Lazer, Adam Port, &Me, Kelly Rowland, Drake, and Ciara.
She has shared stages with some of Africa’s top stars, including Burna Boy, Davido, and Wizkid. She received a nomination for Best International Act at the BET Awards 2023 and was the first Amapiano act to perform at Coachella.
With limited tickets available, one would not want to miss this monumental show from Uncle Waffles, a huge moment in her early career, with additional performances from special guests. This is her first headlining show in the states at Avant Gardener.
The 23 year old Uncle Waffles, born Lungelihle Zwane, first stole the world’s hearts in October 2021 with a viral video of her performance at Mint in Soweto, South Africa. Through the power of social media she was able to reach millions of viewers who helped kickstart her career in the industry.
Zwane explained that she was not supposed to have that DJ slot but when the opportunity came up, she grabbed it with both hands.
“The person who was supposed to take that slot cancelled, Just like that, a 30-minute slot that was not supposed to be mine here I am today,” said Waffles in previous interviews.
The viral video of Uncle Waffles entertaining hundreds at a venue in Soweto has received over 5 million views on Twitter alone.
After topping Twitter’s trending list, her Instagram following grew from 10k to a whopping 160k. Her distinctive style and irresistible energy have made her a fan favorite among ravers and other music fans alike.
She has received nods from well-known celebrities, including rapper Drake and former Manchester United midfielder Jesse Lingard.
With the quick rise to success and fame that Uncle Waffles has seen as DJ, she is now working on highly anticipated new original music in the hopes of solidifying her position within the industry through her dedication to the craft.
