MBABANE– A golden chance for emaSwati youth has been extended.

The United Nations Development Programme today advised of the extension of the call for applications for graduate placement under the Eswatini Youth Empowerment Programme (EYEP) to March 31, 2023. The initial call was made in December 2022 with a deadline of January 31, 2023. This is according to a statement sent out by UNDP Communications Specialist Mantoe Phakathi.

“Noting the positive response but also the need to give applicants and host organisations more time, the call has been extended by a further two months. Graduates and host organisations are encouraged to continue applying at https://eyep.org.sz/,” said Phakathi in the statement.

EYEP is a government-endorsed programme which aims to support young graduates to secure a foot in the door, as most employers require some work experience. Through this Programme, young graduates from local and external tertiary institutions will get the opportunity to gain at least 12 months of work experience, thus improving their employability prospects.

The project targets youth from all regions with at least a Diploma from a recognised and accredited institution. Graduates must be Swati and below the age of 35 years, and prospective candidates must not be employed or have been employed in the past 24 months. Graduates will be placed, where feasible, closer to their hometown or where they can access free accommodation to reduce travel costs.
