MATSAPHA – “Coming from a poor-stricken family made me to hustle even more”

These words were shared by France Thulani Mlotsa who is a well invested business man based at Mahhala, Matsapha in Eswatini. He currently owns a variety of businesses that are a product of his savings, he shared with this publication how it all started. Mlotsa stated that when he was enrolling at the University of Eswatini in 2018 doing Bachelor of Social Science, things were not looking good financially and he had to think of better ways to generate money since allowances delayed yet he had to meet-up with his expenses. When doing second year, he started selling chickens which helped him with his everyday needs at University.

During the interview with this reporter, he explained that problems started to heighten and since he was from a family that is poverty infected, nothing seemed to work out hence he had to work as a security guard when he was doing third year. He mentioned that due to pressure from most things and the allowance delaying, he had to stand on his own.

“When I started working as security guard, I was promoted to control officer job which paid around E2000 and it was booster to the allowance hence I was able to save some money. When I graduated in 2020, I was unemployed due to the likes of COVID-19 and I started recording gospel songs. I released an album which has 13 songs named Ngitfumele eNiniva” said Mlotsa.

From his album, he mentioned that he was able to get E16 500 by which he was able to purchase a cow and a goat to boost his business. From there, business has been promising since now he owns mobile money at Eteni in Matsapha and a Consulting Company called Quality Concrete.

“I am currently owning the meat and mobile money business on my own but when it comes to the Consulting company, I have a partner. This company offers water proofing and installing services” said Mlotsa.

When asked about his motivation that keeps him going, he said that his background has played a vital role in pressuring him to fight for a better future. He said that from form1 till he finished form5, he survived on piece jobs because his parents died when he was doing grade1 and he is fighting using all his powers to not go back to that life of poverty.
