KWALUSENI – The University of Eswatini (UNESWA) is back to full operations after the Mbabane and Kwaluseni campuses took a break due to protests two weeks ago.
The UNESWA campuses opened for classes and assessments today, after students had been learning online for two weeks. Only students who were writing their supplementary examinations were allowed on campus during the brief closure. Speaking to Eswatini TV, UNESWA Registrar Dr Salebona Simelane urged students and other stakeholders to cooperate with them as they work to fix the challenges which are still on the table.
“The senate made a resolution after meeting last week on the 11th, that the students should return to campus to resume learning. The original calendar had marked the previous week as a mid-term break which means we were not going to have lectures either way. So, after the midterm break as of today, students have returned to classes,” said Simelane
“For now everything seems to be going well. We are hopeful that students will still see the value in their own education. This does not mean that there are no challenges or that they are not being observed,” added Simelane.
The new dates for the graduating class are yet to be announced, following the postponement of the ceremony two weeks ago.
