MBABANE – The University of Eswatini (UNESWA) has announced that it was considering admitting Form Five students from both classes of 2022 and 2023 in the 2024 academic year. The good news was disclosed by UNESWA Registrar, Salebona Simelane
He explained that the University is prepared for the 2024 intake will increase because they had already been admitted to the Form Five class of 2022 but are waiting to join the institution in August 2024.
“We are yet to receive applications from the 2023 class once their results are out, the class of 2022 have received their admission letters and they do not have to do anything new now or compete for spaces with the class of 2023,” he said.
Simelane disclosed that for its 2022 intake, about 2 200 students were admitted and they include those under already Institute of Distance Education.’
“We will have to add numbers to the students who would have enrolled as full-time first-year students in August. It will be them and those who have completed Form Five in 2023. We were saying that in the past we used to admit 2 500 to 3 000 students so we are looking forward to admitting above that number we are roughly saying 3 500 to 4 000 first-year students this year,” said Simelane.
He said they will have to try and accommodate all the students in their lecture rooms and also find ways of learning after submissions.
He later encouraged the students who would be accepted at the University to look for alternative accommodation which was not far from the institution, that is if they did not get accommodation on campus.
