MBABANE– School-going children and teenagers from all walks of life are getting closer to being guaranteed quality education.
Today, the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Ministry of Education and Training officially launched the Eswatini Learning Passport, an app/platform which will be used by school-going children to learn.
The Learning Passport is part of UNICEFF’s broader efforts to accelerate and improve access to quality education and learning for every child and young person.
The Leaning Passport is a digital innovation developed by UNICEF in partnership with Microsoft and Cambridge University to enable access to quality and inclusive education and skills.
The platform, which has already been introduced in Zambia and other African countries, has been developed with a unique suite of online and offline functionalities. It is meant to equip young people and children with the necessary tools to support their learning whether in schools, homes or hard-to-reach areas.
Currently, the Eswatini Learning Passport has content ranging from Biology, English Language, Interactive Stimulations, Mathematics, Physical Science, Religious Education and SiSwati subjects.
UNICEF Country Representative Amina Mohammed said they were making calls for participation for the success of the platform. “Let us make calls on all partners to support availability and access gadgets for the Learning Passport to be effective and accessible to all children including those with special needs,” said Mohammed.
