MBABANE– UNICEF Eswatini has announced training on child poverty assessment to be held from March 11 to 15, 2024.

The training will be conducted in partnership with the Ministry of Economic Planning and Development (MOEPD) and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). The aim of the training is to improve the understanding and measurement of child poverty in Eswatini.

It is said that the initiative aims to build the capacity of a Technical Working Team comprised of government officials from MOEPD, the Central Statistical Office, and planning departments across social sectors. The training will equip the team with the skills and knowledge necessary to conduct in-depth analysis and produce insightful reports on child poverty in Eswatini.

The hands-on training exercise will empower experts from various government sectors with the skills and knowledge to independently conduct analytics and produce comprehensive reports based on the latest Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey data. With this collaborative effort, the organisations are making a significant contribution to understanding and addressing the issue of child poverty in Eswatini.
