MBABANE– The United States of America (USA) and the Government of Eswatini came together to ignite positive change in the world.
This, they did in the course of three days the past weekend, where the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) partnered with MTN Bushfire.
The reason USAID partnered with Bushfire is that the festival is aligned with bringing people together and igniting positive change in the world, which is what PrEP (Pre- Exposure Prophylaxis) and family planning are all about.
Chargé d’affaires Earl Miller said if you are an adolescent girl or young woman, PrEP is a valuable option to protect yourself from the risk of contracting HIV.
“USAID will continue to prioritise PrEP and deliver important high-impact services that keep adolescent girls and young women safe. Get to know more about PrEP and stay safe,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Government of Eswatini through the Ministry of Health had officials in Eswatini set new national pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) targets as part of the Bushfire team.
The team was designed to help governments and stakeholders plan, monitor, and evaluate their PrEP delivery during the three-day festival.
A health worker, present during the last day of the festival said, all they advocated for was the youth to take certain majors for their health. “PrEP reminds everyone that, they are the ones to take responsibility for their life: a qualitative study exploring experiences of and attitudes towards pre-exposure prophylaxis use by women in Eswatini,” she said.
