MBABANE – A worthy toilet break.
The US Embassy has ensured that Zamani Primary School pupils have a worthy toilet break, this is after the United States (US) Ambassador to Eswatini Her Excellency Jeanne Maloney handed over a block of toilets.
These toilets were constructed through the Ambassador’s self-help program. Pupils and teacher were happy to witness the completion of the toilets.
When officially handing over the toilets Maloney said she was happy to have seen the program through and that now over 200 pupils have access to clean toilets.
“Schools are meant to nurture and mentor young people to help them grow into their potential,” she said.
Ambassador Maloney then called upon the nation to wait for the promised dialogue and called for people to reject any call for violence.
“Your example in identifying and solving problems at the community level is valuable particularly now as emaSwati await the promised dialogue. Inclusive, peaceful and constructive discussion of issues of concern will help build a nation where all can reach their full potential.
Community members at the school expressed their gratitude for the toilets and attested to have experienced distress with the state of the previous toilets.
“Words cannot even begin to describe how grateful we are about the new toilets, now children will go to school happy and looking forward to be around the school,” said a community member who doubles up as a parent at the school.
Teachers also expressed their gratitude about the new toilet blocks and said it was going to make their work easier.
Worth noting is that the school also got a facelift from the Embassy as classrooms were re- painted and decorated with wall art.
The purpose of the wall art was mostly educational as they showcased commemoration of 16 Days of Activism.
The Embassy was accompanied by Kwakha Indvondza and Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA) organisations.
