MBABANE- The much anticipated Vintage Ntoni ntoni is finally happening tomorrow!

EPN had a chat with Illa (Sifiso Ndlangamandla) Penboy, the brains behind the event.  Illa said that the preparations for the vintage event were going really well.

“The preparations are going really well. We were mostly worried about the weather because we want an outside vibe. Other than that, the venue is all set and we are ready and excited for the event,” he said.

“The inspiration behind the vintage ntoni ntoni are my fans. They are the ones who gave me the idea when they said it is my type of lifestyle which then gave me the idea.

“Another reason would be that I really want to see Swazis support the Dopha Phansi vendors. They sell quality clothes at very cheap prices and we want people to be able to go and buy from there, without feeling the need to spend a lot of money just to make an impression when there is an alternative way.”

Vintage is the type of style that gets more beautiful with time as a person can rock it any day of the year and it is a way of embracing what you already have, being proud of it all the while saving money. It is also a way of celebrating our parents who wore vintage back in the day.

“All I did was to take the concept of vintage, made it into a viable product, found a cool venue and sold it as a package to my people and the love and support has been incredible. I cannot say exactly how many people are coming but in other areas where we had our tickets, they were sold out but I haven’t checked as people are still buying them”, said Illa Penboy.

Lastly, he said they did not have a sponsor for his event, the people themselves made it possible for it to happen.

“We will have 100% local content and all Swazi djs because Swazis are the ones who made it possible for this event to be possible.”

The humanitarian-rapper also said food stalls were limited to 15 and they would all sell different foods so that everyone made profits and benefitted as much as possible from the event.
