Voting for 2023 local Government Elections will begin on Monday 17 January and will run until February 24, 2023.
This was confirmed by Community Liason Officer at the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development Melusi Hlanze when sought for comment.
“The different voting registration points will be in every town council. These are Mbabane, Ezulwini, Hlathikhulu, Ngwenya, Nhlangano and Piggs Peak from 8am to 5pm daily.
“It is important to note that property, land and business should be owned for at least a period of six months. A voter should be a liSwati above the ages of 18 and does not necessarily have to be from that particular town.
“The rules to voting include coming in person, bringing your national identification papers, tittle deeds for those owning land in towns and proof of registered businesses, period in the municipality, status and your ward number,” said Hlanze.
Hlanze further mentioned that training for registration supervisors and registration officers was complete. “A number of 39 registration supervisors have finished their training and will be stationed at the various registration points. Yesterday we also finished training 250 registration officers on how to register emaSwati for the elections,” said Hlanze.
