MBABANE– Vusumnotfo, an NGO, has become the first organisation in Eswatini to partner with Book Dash to distribute their books.
Book Dash is unique from other books because it has a wide range of beautiful and authentic African created story books.
During an interview with staff member Thembi Shongwe, she said the books are really good for the children under the Non- Governmental Organisation (NGO).
“Some of the children are non-verbal and some have cerebral palsy but they all enjoy being read to just like any other child. We were taught that 60-70 percent of human communication is non-verbal which is how we communicate our needs, feelings, intentions and emotions without the use of verbal language.
“Books in the absence of speech become a gate way or portal of imagination and creativity for the children as they are able to decipher what the story is about through the images in the books,” said Shongwe.
Shongwe further mentioned that these books were fit for the whole family.
“It’s the festive season, people should buy these books for their own children because or friends because they tell African stories, some of which we grew up to and that have been told for generation and has an African perspective to it,” said Shongwe.
Shongwe further mentioned that the books could also be purchased online.
“The books are available to download online and for direct purchase- www.bookdash.org,” said Shongwe.
