MBABANE – A warm welcome home for one of our greatest exports.

Yesterday, EmaSwati came out to support one of their own. Just as she has been selling out shows globally, Uncle Waffles proved to her fellow citizens why she is the most sought-after DJ globally last night at the Albert Millin.

The show, dubbed Pop Sunday Dragons Den, saw an impressive turnout for the local-born DJ, who has gone and made her name known worldwide. Born Lungelihle Zwane (24), the Eswatini-born DJ and record producer was clad in a mini red and black scorch skirt paired with a black crop top. She finished her look with black and white sneakers and also made a statement with her green weave.

She delivered a brilliant set, which she paired with her electronic dance moves, accompanied by two male dancers.

The globetrotting DJ posted on her Instagram page about the local show at the beginning of this month. To prove how successful her brand has become, early bird tickets for the show sold out on May 7, as locals couldn’t wait to see her perform.

Local DJs who also performed were DJ Tap, Wassabee, Amarii x Grixxly, Isooks, Miss T, Sixby9ine, and Thubillion.
It is worth mentioning that last year, on May 23, Uncle Waffles shut down Mbabane with her performance at the same venue. She had just returned from touring Europe, the United States (US), and the Coachella Festival.

She is noted for her work in the Amapiano genre and dance abilities, with Billboard describing her as the Princess of Amapiano. She has become a global brand, playing for European soccer stars and touring global stages, killing it on the decks.

In February, she also shut’ down London at her show, which was sold out and dubbed ‘We ‘Love Waffles London, in London, United Kingdom. The DJ, who boasts 2.5 million followers on Instagram, got the nod for her electrical performance from USA artist Kelly Rowland, who came up to her to give her a warm hug in appreciation of her set at the UnitedMasters Grammy Weekend Concert. Uncle Waffles, alongside Davido and Tokischa, were the headliners of the show. The concert was held at the Hollywood Palladium.

Uncle Waffles was featured in Rolling Stone magazine in December. According to one of her pages, Waffles has been recognised by Rolling Stones, Forbes, CNN Variety, The New York Times, and Complex UK for her insane accomplishments throughout 2023, spanning from Solace and Asylum Extended Playlist EP releases, Coachella performances, and sold-out shows in New York.

US star Beyoncé also played her Tanzania song on her recent Renaissance tour. Last April, she performed at the global festival Coachella and toured the US and Europe.

She has become a global brand, playing for European soccer stars and touring global stages, killing it on her debut single, titled Tanzania, which reached number one and went platinum in South Africa. She has gained the attention of some of the world’s biggest names, including Canadian rapper Drake. The world got to know about DJ after Drake shared a photo of her and sent a shout-out to her. He did that twice. He first joined her on Instagram and called her a top DJ.
