MBABANE– In an effort to prioritize health and well-being, Waterford KaMhlaba United World Collages (KaMhlaba UWC) in Mbabane, Swaziland, recently organized a groundbreaking Wellness Day. The event marked the beginning of an exciting series of initiatives aimed at fostering a healthy and balanced lifestyle among the staff members.
“We want everyone to be healthy, from the staff, support staff, students and the community,” said Waterford nurse Gcinile Mathobela. Mathobela further stated that this event was a pilot, and they are happy with how it turned out to be. The event will now be hosted annually.
Waterford KaMhlaba UWC recognized the importance of supporting their support staff, who play a crucial role in the smooth functioning of the institution. With this in mind, various departments, including Cancer, Diabetes, Ears, Nose and Throat (ENT), Mental Health, Nutrition, Health Promotion, Prevention (PSI), Girl Power Eswatini, and Dentistry, came together to offer guidance, education, and services related to their respective areas of expertise.
The day’s highlight was a lively aerobics session, allowing the staff to engage in physical activity and release any built-up stress. This invigorating exercise served as a vibrant reminder of the importance of staying active for both the body and mind.
By organizing this Wellness Day, Waterford KaMhlaba UWC expressed its commitment to ensuring the well-being of its support staff. The event marks the beginning of a series of future initiatives aimed at providing the necessary support and resources for staff members to lead healthy and balanced lifestyles.
