NHLANGANO- No weapons formed against us shall prosper.
The verse above taken from the book of Isaiah is a new slogan for Mkhondvo and surrounding areas pupils.
The pupils vowed that despite the hindrance in the form of the flooding bridge they have been working hard to make sure they excel in their exams. Worth noting is that the bridge was fixed by the government two days ago.
In one voice the form three and five pupils mentioned that they have been working hard and studying for their examination which some are already underway.
“ We have lost a great deal of time to COVID-19 and the unrest, we cannot allow a flooding bridge to derail the amount of work we have done to stay top of the class,” said a form five pupil Sandile Zubuko.
His sentiments were echoed by his fellow schoolmate Sifiso Mkhonta who said they were making means to make sure they get to the exam room and making sure they do not lose focus. Mkhonta said they understood the situation was a bit tricky and dangerous.
“There is always a positive in every situation and we have chosen to fight till the end with where our studies are concerned, we are going to make it,” he said.
Other randomly interviewed pupils, who were interviewed through their whatsapp study groups, said they were helping each other and becoming each other’s support system.
Nelisiwe Dlamini from Nhlangano who is writing her form three exam said there was enough pressure from the papers and the bridge was the least of her problems.
“A flooding bridge is the least worry I have right now. There is so much studying to do and practice to do,” she said.
Meanwhile the government made an update a day ago that the bridge had been fixed and open for use again. This was well received by members of the public.
“The Nation is notified that the Mkhondvo Bridge is now re-opened,” read the statement by the Government on their social media platforms
