… Njabulo Ndlovu, ‘Tsiki’ Mncina will not be available for Tambuti showdown

SOCCER – Ahead of Saturday’s MTN Premier League E100 000 first round incentive decider, Green Mamba coach Ernest Mavuso insist he is still instilling a winning mentality among his stars.

A point adrift table-toppers Young Buffaloes, Green Mamba can win the prize with a win away to Tambuti and Buffaloes suffer their first defeat of the season against basement Seven Dreams at Mhlume’s Nsukuwansuku Stadium.

Mavuso heads to Mayaluka Stadium a cautious as he said in Friday’s pre-match press conference at Sigwaca House that Tambuti’s position on the log can be deceiving and make one think that they are a small team.

“Tambuti’s recent performances suggest otherwise hence we went an extra mile by engaging experts to study their strengths and weaknesses. It is a motivating factor to be in good form because even in bad times, it gives you the courage that you can overcome. Winning is a habit hence in every game we target maximum points. We are trying to instill the habit of winning in this team,” he said.   

The former Mbabane Highlanders and Moneni Pirates coach confirmed that he will be without the injured trio of orthodox midfielder Njabulo ‘D4D’ Ndlovu, long serving utility player Lawrence ‘Tsiki’ Mncina and goalkeeper Siyabonga Simelane. However, all three players have begun light training and will be joining the rest of the group soon.

Captain Mcolisi Mkhonto said as players they are motivated to go all out for a win and that the spirit was high.

“We are picking form at the right time as the beginning of the second round is the right time to collect points,” Mkhonto said.
