… While presenting E100 000 cheque to Sigwe Netball Tournament

MBABANE– “We need more women in positions that are highly regarded.”

These sentiments were shared by the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, Pholile Shakantu, today while presenting a E100 000 cheque to Sigwe Netball Tournament teams today at Ramblas in Mbabane.

The Minister injected the above-stated amount into the tournament as patron of the Eswatini Network of Women, a foundation which is behind the sponsorship of the tournament. The finals of the tournament are slated for this Saturday, May 20, at Decapol Sports Centre under the Sigwe Inkhundla.

Shakantu shared her sentiments during her deliberations, saying one of the main aims of the Eswatini Network of Women was to empower women to take up space in parliament and high positions.

“We will engage companies and encourage them to ensure that women are considered for fundamental positions.

“We are all for empowering the girl child. Siphakamisa boMake (sic),” said the Minister.

Eswatini Network of Women also referred to as ESWATINI NOW, is a community that seeks to empower women by providing them with support to build a better future for themselves.

Their prime objectives are to provide a supportive community for women, to promote the full and equal participation of women and girls in all aspects of society and growing the number of women in decision-making and leadership positions.
