MBABANE – I weekend enkulu (busy weekend) is upon Eswatini, as a throngs of tourists from neighbouring counties and the globe flock to Eswatini to be part of the many festivities set to take place in the kingdom.

This is a weekend of the much-anticipated MTN Bushfire Festival, which has already started and is set to last until Sunday night. The globally-renowned festival attracts scores of tourists from within the country and outside the country. Tourist’s from overseas, such as Europe are usually part of the 17-year-old showpiece.

The Bushfire festival has many stages, where various artists from around the world have been invited to perform. The show is not only about music. Many business people have also taken advantage of the situation, as many organisations have pitched their own gazebos within the vicinity where the event will take place.

Small businesses also did not want to be left out, as they also aim to make a fortune out of the event. They have also pitched their stalls outside the Malandelas vicinity, hoping to take care of the different needs of the festivalgoers.
Some companies such as MTN (Bushfire Festival’s title sponsors), Ballentines, Heineken and others have also sponsored the stages where the artists will be performing.

The Bushfire Festival is not the only event that will be taking place in this weekend.

At least four SA-renowned artists are set to perform on the first day of the MTN Bushfire Festival, which is on May 31, for various shows at different venues.
The artists who are booked to perform in the country include Master KG, DJ Maphorisa, Mlindo the Vocalistic, DJ Tira and Kelvin Momo.

DJ Maphorisa

South African DJ, record producer, singer, and songwriter DJ Maphorisa is set to perform at The XChange Lounge.
The show dubbed ‘DJ Maphorisa One Man Show’ was confirmed by the marketing manager of the establishment, Meluleki ‘Sluga’ ‘Simelane.

DJ Maphorisa, born Themba Sekowe, is a record producer with a blend of house music, Amapiano, and Afro-pop. He has worked with renowned artists, such as Wizkid. He is widely recognised for his contribution to the growth of Amapiano. As a member of Uhuru, he gained popularity with hits such as Wayitjukutja and Khona. He is a multiple-award winner and has worked with international artists

Mlindo the Vocalist

He will be performing at the Lubombo Fest. The show will be held at the Polar Rest & Bar in Mpolonjeni, Siteki.
The show will be presented by Ekasi Entertainment SD.

Mlindo, whose real name is Lindokuhle Mgedza, is a South African singer and songwriter. He gained recognition following his debut single, Amablesser, taken from his debut album, Emakhaya, in 2018.

Master KG

Kgaogelo Moagi (born January 31, 1996), known professionally as Master KG, is a South African musician and record producer. Born and raised in Tzaneen, his debut studio album, Skeleton Move, achieved acclaim, including an AFRIMA Award for Best Artist/Group in the African Electro category. He is also known as the pioneer of the “Bolobedu” dance.

DJ Tira

South African Kwaito, Gqom artist, and record producer DJ Tira is set to perform at the Subway Restaurant and Bar Rooftop on May 31.

The DJ, who owns Bearings Cider around Africa and is also available in the country, is scheduled to perform at the show. The show was dubbed ‘DJ Tira at the Subway Restaurant & Bar.’ Tira confirmed that he would be performing today, along with Dladla Mshunqisi.

Born Mthokozisi Khathi is a South African DJ, record producer, Kwaito and Gqom artist, and businessman. He was born 47 years ago in KwaHlabisa, KwaZulu Natal. He pioneered Durban’s House and Kwaito scenes in the early 2000s, transforming the coastal city into South Africa’s dance, music, and entertainment hub. Some of his albums include Malume Way, Rockstar Forever, Ikhenanin, and many more.

The Secretariat of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) is also in the country, having been brought by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade.

The country’s private sector is also expected to learn about the opportunities presented by this huge African market.
As a result of these many events, accommodation establishments such as hotels and lodges are set to cash in. Even home owners are already leasing their own houses to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the busy weekend.
