…Garden party before double celebration

MBABANE – Tsai Ing-wen, educator and politician who became the first female president of Taiwan (2016– ). Tsai, who is of Hakka is His Majesty King Mswati III’s guest of honour.
Tsai Ing-wen is a Taiwanese politician who has served as the president of the Republic of China since 2016. A member of the Democratic Progressive Party, Tsai is the first female president of Taiwan. She served as chair of the DPP from 2020
The female President of the Republic of China is coming to the Kingdom of Eswatini on September 5, until 7, 2023. While in the country, the President is expected to, among other things, attend the country’s 55/55 Double Celebrations.
Eswatini and Taiwan enjoy a long, solid diplomatic relationship spanning 55 years. The two countries share mutual respect and support for each other.
The President is known for her strong stance and nuanced take on national and political matters. Amid worsening tensions between China and Taiwan, Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen emphasised that the self-governing island ‘will be even more united and will absolutely not yield to suppression.
Democratic Progressive Party chairman Tsai Ing-wen is Taiwan’s first female President, She was born on August 31, 1956, in Taipei Taiwan, a few years after Mao Zedong communist army invaded and took Beijing forcing Chiang Kai-shek nationalists to flee across the Taiwan Strait.
Tsai is the youngest of nine children of her parents, Tsai Chieh-sheng who is her father, and Chang Chin-Feng, her mother. It is her father who encouraged her to study, who she loved spending most of her leisure time caring for him, and upon advice that she enrolled at the law college
Meanwhile, the Minister of Home Affairs, Princess Lindiwe, announced that the Garden Party for His Majesty King Mswati III’s Birthday celebration will be on September 5, 2023.
On another note, the minister stated that the preparations were going as planned for the double jubilee, set to take place at Somhlolo National Stadium next Wednesday.
The readiness of the celebration was tested yesterday during the rehearsals that took place at the national stadium.
The double celebration is under the portfolio of the Ministry of Home Affairs, which is also a custodian for all national events in the country.
The rehearsal exercise was meant to ensure that all participants of the event were clear on what they were supposed to do on the actual day. Secondly, it is to ensure that all performances that are supposed to take place correlate with the programme of the day.
