MBABANE – The Umhluma Women and Youth Foundation has received government support in launching the first ever widows conference in the country.
The acting officer in charge of gender issues under the Deputy Prime Minister’s office, Nomzamo Dlamini, said “as we work with Umhluma, we know the legislation gaps for addressing the issues of widows.” She added that the legislative gaps are some of the issues they hope to cover in the Widows Conference.
Marketing officer for the Eswatini National Provident Fund, Makhosazane Simelane, added that the inability of widows to get custody of death certificates, for example, has made it hard for some widows to get their dues.
The Widows Conference will be held on the 1st of July this year.
