…as drip and rap battle competitions announced

The Spirit of Hip Hop has announced that there are great prizes to be won under two different competitions on the day; the Rap Battle competition, and the Drip Competition.
The competitions were announced on the official Spirit of Hip Hop social media pages this week.
The announcement states that the winner of the Rap Battle will walk away with a smartphone, a recording deal with Rare Jam Productions (which includes artwork, visualiser, and distribution) and a guaranteed spot on the MAYHAM 2 mixtape. The best dressed hip hop lover will also walk away with a smartphone by Ouikitel.
Speaking on why they decided to host the Drip Competition, Mzwandile ‘Lution’ Nxumalo, one of the organisers of the event, stated that they celebrate the fashion aspect of Hip Hop
“We decided to have the drip competition at Spirit of HipHop (SOHH2023) because we wanted to celebrate the fashion and style that is synonymous with hip hop culture. The drip competition allows participants to showcase their unique fashion sense and creativity, adding an exciting element to the event,” said Lution.
“The decision to have a Rap Battle competition was made to provide a platform for aspiring and established hip hop artists to showcase their lyrical skills and stage presence. Rap battles have always been an integral part of hip hop culture, and we wanted to honor that tradition by creating a space for artists to engage in friendly competition and display their talent,” said Lution about the Rap Battle competition.
“To hip hop artists interested in participating in the rap battle, I would say embrace the opportunity to showcase your skills and make your mark in the hip hop community. As a previous winner of rap battles myself, I can attest to the doors it can open and the recognition it can bring. Prepare your verses, practice your delivery, and bring your authentic self to the stage. Remember, it’s not just about winning, but also about connecting with the audience and leaving a lasting impression,” added Lution about the Rap Battle competition.
The Competition is open to all Eswatini rappers until tomorrow July 22, 2023. The Spirit of Hip Hop 2023 will be at the Albert Millin’ in Mbabane on July 29 2023.
