MBABANE– Empowered to empower!
This slogan was said by the director of the Wom-Pact Foundation, Velile Dube, as her foundation, together with Hloniphile Matsebula, successfully hosted a workshop on Saturday.
The Wom-pact Foundation, under the Wom-pact Skills Programme (WSP), conducted a soap, detergent, and cosmetics formulation workshop at the Thokoza Conference Centre in Mbabane.
When reached for comment, Dube shared with this publication that if it has nothing to do with changing lives for the better or making a positive impact in society, then she wants no part in it. “We would like to see women from different walks of life go into business and thrive. Partnering with Superb Choice Brands and OWIT made so much sense because it’s aligned with making that mission a reality. We plan on creating more women entrepreneurs by creating such skill development spaces, said the director.
The objective of the workshop was to empower participants with training, skills, resources, and knowledge for starting and sustaining their businesses. Businesswoman Sithembile Zwane shared business tips and demonstrations of soap, detergent, and cosmetic formulation processes (theory and practical). The workshop also covered information about international trade in an attempt to broaden women entrepreneurs’ businesses.
This was done through the collaboration of OWIT, the Organisation of Women in International Trade, and Superb Choice Brands. Participants were invited to join Superb Choice Brand’s support group.
OWIT leads the advancement of women in trade and business. Representing OWIT Eswatini, Rechi Dlamini stressed the transformative power of collaboration in fostering trade and advancing women in the business landscape. Furthermore, she encouraged participants to join the OWIT Chapter, which has a variety of peaks, including the enhancement of global connections through networking opportunities.
The Wom-Pact Skills Programme (WSP) seeks to empower women with skills and knowledge for starting and sustaining their businesses at the grass-roots level.
