MBABANE – Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini views women as an important part of the development agenda of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
The Premier said this today, when commemorating the International Day of Women. Dlamini took to his Facebook page to highlight the importance of women in many sectors of society. “I would like to take this opportunity to wish all women in Eswatini a happy #InternationalWomensDay. Today, I wish to recognise the immense role that women have and continue to play in nurturing us and developing our Kingdom,” Dlamini said.
He said in Eswatini, the role of women had always been deeply woven within the fabrics of what Emaswati did. “In the family structure, women play a key role in decision making and coordinating family functions,” Dlamini said. He further highlighted what a certain woman did at national level to shape the destiny of the Kingdom of Eswatini.
“At national level, Indlovukazi Gwamile is one of our country’s trailblasers and greatest heroines. She played a leading role in introducing education to Eswatini when she championed the opening of Zombodze Primary, the first school in Eswatini, and further facilitated that His Majesty King Sobhuza II attend school,” said the Premier.
The PM further pointed out that the Indlovukazi was also very instrumental in the establishment of the African National Congress (ANC) as one of its sponsors. He mentioned that it was on such heroic efforts by women across all sectors of society that Eswatini is built on. His Majesty’s Government would continue to ensure that women, young and old, had equal opportunities to grow and participate in developing Eswatini.
