MBABANE– The Government through the Ministry of Education and Training has come out to say working in silo or having a silo mentality is counterproductive.
Representing the Minister of Education and Training, Minister of Public Service Mabulala Maseko was speaking at the launch of the third edition of Career Expo 2023 today at Hilton Garden Inn.
He said this event is testament to the fact that everyone has learnt how divisive and counterproductive the silo mentality is, hence, Government Sectors and Development Partners now all value collaborations.
“This is why we are working in partnerships. For we achieve much, much more when working together as one, to address the momentous societal challenges of our time.
“It is a profound honor and privilege to be part of to the launch of such a prestigious event, the National Career Expo of the Kingdom of Eswatini,”
The Career Expo is an event which is an outcome of the collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security and the Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs.
The Ministry of Education and Training was pleased to collaborate with sister sectors and to be part of this year’s National Career Expo and today’s Launch, which affords children the opportunity for a platform for dialogue where critical information from different academic institutions is shared in one platform.
“It is indeed true that information is power. Hence, young people will be able to make proper decisions pertaining to their career path, using the career expo resources. This platform came at a pivotal time where our country paves every possible way to unleash Generation Unlimited (GenU),” he said.
In addition he said young people should indeed be at the center of their development so we can seamlessly pass on the button to them.
He said young people not only understand their needs better than any of them can, he said they will be left here when many go to the other side.
“Ours is therefore to create an enabling environment to nature their growth in all the crucial directions, so they can become everything they were created to be.
“This is now an imperative as the Government has realized the mistake that it initially made which wrongly channeled learners to an academic oriented education. Government is addressing this issue through encouraging our young people to follow career paths to become employment creators instead of employment seekers,” he said.
He said this was the only way the nation can deliver on its industrialization dreams and the only way young people can fulfill their dreams and become prosperous business moguls.
