WORKSHOP TO STRENGTHEN YOUNG WOMEN’S LEADERSHIP IN POLITICS NEXT MONTH

MBABANE – The second edition of Diamond Meet-Up works to strengthen young women’s leadership in politics decision making.

Through the invitation of Member of Parliament, Lorraine Nxumalo, Zinhle Matsebula and Thembela Msibi, the organisers of this life-changing event are hoping to unlock deep discussions on women leadership empowerment in the country. The summit is set to take place on 11 December at SNAT hall in Manzini. Tickets are selling at E120, and will shoot up to E150 after the 30th of this month.

Proceedings will be led by none other than the evergreen Miyanda Mahlangu. 
Mahlangu said she was excited to be part of the event and was looking forward to learning from other women. 
“I am really keen to meet,learn and network with different women in wide spheres of influence. We’re always advocating on having women take up space, and this is the perfect platform for it and a great step to that,” she said. 
According to the chief organiser, Paul Nkambule, Nxumalo was roped in to discuss the importance of young women to participate in politics decision making.

The MP, representing the Lubombo Region, is a strong politician and businesswoman who is in the forefront in decision making in the country. She is passionate about women’s empowerment as she has publicly shared her opinion on the topic. Furthermore, Nkambule shared that  Matsebula would tackle the topic of young women as pioneers of entrepreneurship, whilst Msibi’s focus would be on helping young women unlock and advance their leadership potential.

“No gender equality without control over one’s own body, thus the DIAMOND MEET UP helps to empower girls and young women to take control over their bodies so that they can have confidence to make strong decisions to boost their leadership style. The meet-up is a safe space for girls and young women to share  success stories together,” Nkambule said.

He added that the upcoming summit will further hold discussions on topics such as gender equality, health and Rights. In conclusion, he said preparations were going well and encouraged women to buy tickets by contacting this number +268 76725179.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic regulations, only 50 women are expected to participate this year. 
The hybrid event is expected to be streamed live on various social media platforms. The Diamond Meet-Up is a female-only event aimed at empowering female leaders, entrepreneurs, pioneers, community developers and facilitators. 
They come together to learn, network, and discuss  opportunities  that are available for young women from diverse backgrounds to fly as leaders.
