Yini Loku is an independent gathering, co-working, and conferencing venue for artists and creatives in Mbabane. It is located at the Cinelux Building opposite the Magistrate Court corner of Gwamile and Mandela Street, Mbabane.

It is a project space founded and curated by Yebo Art Gallery, Yebo ArtReach, Antidote Music, and the Antidote Culture Foundation.

When reached for comment, one of the co-founders, Dane Armstrong, shared with this publication that Yini Loku opened its doors last year in June and was officially launched in December.

According to the cofounder, Yini Loku is more accessible to the public because of its central location. “It is a vibrant, inclusive, and independent hub for creative action—safe and inspiring spaces where artists and activists, youth, environmentalists, and creatives from diverse backgrounds gather to share, learn, and co-create,” Armstrong said.

Armstrong also shared that on Saturday they will have an art exhibition titled KUYINI, an exciting group photography exhibition featuring 45 pieces of artwork from 32 local photographers.

Over 40 photographers submitted nearly 200 photographs during the public open call in early February, with a jury selecting the top 45 shots that related to the KUYINI theme. Exhibiting photographers will have their photographs printed for free through sponsorship from Apollo Printers in Mbabane, with their work being sold for the duration of the show (1 month). Photographers will also be given a platform at special events in March to give small talks and presentations on their work.

The exhibition will kick off at 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., and entry is free. For more information, email lokuyini@gmail.com. 7634 7655

The show is proudly sponsored by Apollo Printers and organised in close collaboration with Yebo! Art Gallery and the Antidote Culture Foundation.
