ZONDI COMES SECOND IN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT AWARDS

Former sports journalist and Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Communications Officer Sibongiseni  Zondi have come second in Create Students Awards 2023.

He was nominated for the International Student Award organised by the School of Arts, Media and Creative Tech at Salford University.

Taking to his very active twitter page Zondi announced that the nomination alone had felt like a win.

“This nomination feels like a win! Truly honoured,” he wrote.

Earlier today, the sports fanatic who has been living it up in the United Kingdom (UK) shared that he has come second in the awards.

“We did not win tonight, but my heart is filled with immense gratitude. I’m grateful to have been considered for this award. Most importantly, congratulations to Janice Ho, a deserving winner of the award, and all the other Create Awards 23 winners,” said Zondi.

Chevening is the UK government’s international scholarships and fellowships programme.

They nurture confidence in ideas and give the education, network, and conviction to bring those ideas to fruition.

Funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and partner organisations, they offer individuals who show potential to inspire, inform, and influence positive change the opportunity to study at a UK university to gain a UK educational qualification.

Chevening Scholars study subjects in almost any field, and go on to implement their ideas for positive change in a range of sectors. After completing their period of study in the UK, they return home and join a global network of over 55 000 alumni.

Zondi left for the UK last year joining the Chevening Programme as a scholar in Public Relations and Digital Communications at the University of Salford, Manchester. Announcing the achievement, Zondi took to Facebook, saying: “Dreams do come true, even for boys from Sihhoye. I am honoured and excited to share that I have been Chosen For Chevening I have been awarded the prestigious Chevening Scholarship for 2022/23 to study,”
