MBABANE – The Anti-Corruption Task Team that was launched today by Prime Minister Russell Mmiso Dlamini will work with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

This was said by Attorney General (AG) Sifiso Khumalo today when responding to a question posed by Eswatini TV’s Senior Journalist Lington Gule. Gule wanted to know what would happen to the ACC, now that the task team was launched.

Khumalo said the task team was not there to replace the ACC, but was there to make the work of the ACC to be smooth. Khumalo reminded the nation that the task team was not launched for the first time, as it was also there during the time of former Prime Minister Dr Sibusiso Barnabas Dlamini and it reported to the prime minister, like it was the case now.

He said the ACC was the one that had the task of investigating cases of corruption and bring them before the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) so that they can be tried in court. He also said the police were also involved in the process of prosecuting people who would be suspected of having transgressed. Therefore, the task team was there to coordinate the processes involved in fighting corruption.

The Prime Minister also concurred with Khumalo and said the task team would help in avoiding a situation where a case would be stalled at a certain office, while it was being investigated.
