MBABANE – Shorter queues and more order is the new order of the day at the Registrar of Companies in Mbabane.

This comes after the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the e-Government Unit today launched an electronic queueing system for company registrations and renewals. According to a statement from Government’s official media channels online, the system is a build up towards a 100% e-business registrar that Government is working on.

The new queueing system also comes with a performance management function for officers working at the Registrar of Companies as it generates a report on how many clients have been serviced per day amongst other things. The system was developed by Slomoes Corporation.

Speaking at the launch of the system, Minister of Commerce, Industry and Trade Manqoba Khumalo remarked that this project is proof that Government is improving on service delivery.

“It will greatly reduce the long queues that we usually see at the Ministry and comes with a ticketing system that will ensure clients are serviced fairly and without favour, thereby eliminating corruption,” said the Minister.

“I urge the Nation to report misuse of the system by our officers. As a Ministry, we are on a path of improving company registrations and renewals, and we will introduce something similar at the licensing department as well. We are looking at having a fully digital service, working in collaboration with the New Zealand Government,” added the Minister.

Echoing Minister Khumalo’s words was Slomoes Director Lucky Slomo Dlamini

“It is about time that Government becomes digital and we are happy to be part of those that are digitising Government under its pillar of e-governance. It is a good thing for Government to be paperless and it is something we have always longed to see happening in our country. We believe this is the beginning of greater things to come,” said Dlamini.

The system has been working for some months before the official launch today, and has garnered good reviews from the public already.

Minister Khumalo noted that this launch comes during the celebration of Customer Service month, adding that as a Ministry they believe customer service is all about providing efficient service.
