GOLF– Mbabane Golf Club Vice-Captain Moses Masilela has bagged his first-ever MTN Masters trophy.
Scoring 37 points, is all it took for Masilela to win the competition which was this year’s first edition of the MTN Monthly Masters. With the weather unpredictable, scoring was lot more difficult, particularly after the early afternoon showers.
Coming second was Mananga Golf Club Captain Wandile Simelane on 36 points, beating regular podium finisher Dumisa Gama on a count back.
Former Mbabane Golf Club Captain Kenneth Nkambule and Mike Zwane completed the top four brackets with 35 and 36 points respectively.
“We congratulate all winners and podium finishers on the day. We are also grateful to MTN for the year’s sponsorship,” said Mbabane Golf Club Secretary Thabiso Gama.
The tournament was played in the Individual Stableford format with lady golfer coming on an impressive ninth position with 33 points, losing on the count back to Behlule Dlomo, veteran golfer Sam Richards and Albert Mavuso.
For the first time, the MTN Monthly Masters will be played in four golf courses being Mbabane Golf Club (five competitions), Nkonyeni Golf Estate (three competitions), Manzini Golf Club (two competitions) and Mananga Gold Estate (two competitions) with the Master of Masters slated for December at Nkonyeni Golf Estate.
Effectively, this means that for the first time, the MTN Monthly Masters will be played across three regions; Hhohho, Manzini and Lubombo in 2023.
