GOVT SPENDS E313M ON SCHOLARSHIPS

MBABANE – The Ministry of Labour and Social Security has disbursed E313 196 409.88 towards payment of scholarships.

The scholarships were paid by the Ministry between the period of October to December 2023. Students studying in the country and abroad benefited from the disbursed scholarships, according to the Ministry’s Annual Performance Report for April to December 2023.

The Ministry spent the amount on 14 items, including tuition (E129 932 998.53), books (E18 013 300), accommodation (E72 152 971.50), meals (E49 285 134), personal allowance (E10 322 700), examination allowance (E1 052 319), field allowance (E1 663 560), uniform (E1 514 533), and internship allowance (E4 851 000).

Other items for which the Ministry paid are registration fee (E249 256), foreign levy (E301 429), interest charges (E139 091.25), students’ air/travel allowances (E19 357 852.60), teaching/nursing all (E2 795 516), and project allowances (E1 564 794).

Meanwhile, the Ministry has been able to collect a gross total of E60 417 463 was collected from the three collection points of Government. From April to June 2023, E20 124 577 was collected. From July to September 2023, E19 999 650.99 was collected and in the third collection point (October to December 2023), E20 293 235.47.
