MANKAYANE – His Majesty King Mswati III is grateful to Emaswati for honouring him with peace.
He said this in the speech he delivered today during his birthday celebrations at Mankayane Sports Ground. “Every year, I ask Emaswati for the most precious gift of all – peace. I would like to use this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude for honouring me with this wish,” the King said.
The King said as a result of the peace, the country had been able to refocus on its primary goal, which was to improve the lives of its people by realising the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDGs).
He pleaded with the nation to make this country as a good example for the world, as the world geared for the International World Peace Day for the year 2024. The King reminded the attendants that the theme for this year would be: “Actions for Peace: Our Commitment to the #GlobalGoals.”
The King also reminded the nation of the importance of attaining the SDGs, as they addressed the problems that disturbed peace in the whole world. The King said at the height of tensions, Eswatini should sustain its peace and give hope to humanity that peace could still be achieved.
He urged the international community to make efforts to attain the SDGs by 2030 so that peace could be restored.
