MBABANE – The Ministry of Sports, Culture and Youth Affairs Harries Madze Bulunga has wished Team Eswatini well for their upcoming games.

Team Eswatini left for Tunisia a day ago, knowing their mandate in their maiden appearance at the African Beach Games.

The 10-member squad departs this morning for the Beach Games to be held in Hammamet, Tunisia from this coming Friday to June 30.

Bulunga, challenged the team that is led by Eswatini Olympic and Commonwealth Games Association (EOCGA) Board Member Thobile Magagula for a podium finish as he bid them farewell in Lobamba.

“I have no doubt that the team we are bidding farewell to today is equal to the task. This team comprises some of our best athletes, and I have no doubt that you will take the assignment you have been given seriously,” he said assuringly.

Eswatini will be represented in three sporting codes. These include beach marathons, teqball and swimming.

Meanwhile, Simanga Dlamini will be the sole representative of the country in open water swimming, after Siwakhile Dlamini was dropped.

This year’s edition is set to attract all 54 countries in the African continent. The local athletes will be joining about 800 competitors, the games will also serve as a qualifier for the World Beach Games, which will take place in Bali, Indonesia, in August 2023.
