MBABANE – Get your Rugby on.
Eswatini Rugby Union (ERU) is preparing for a rugby festival. The union will host the southern regional schools festival at Hlathikhulu Sports Centre on June 17, 2023. The games start early in the morning.
This was announced by ERU President Bandile Vilakati during the segment of the morning live sports show, on Eswatini Broadcasting Services (EBIS) earlier today.
According to Vilakati, this event will feature schools that include the likes of Waterford Kamhlaba, Enjabulweni and Sisekelo High School. Vilakati further mentioned he was excited about the upcoming festival.
“This event is to ensure that the rugby active schools within the southern corridor part participate. The school rugby development is an important cornerstone for all rugby development and a stepping stone towards the pathway to local clubs,” he said, highlighting his happiness.
He further said they will ensure that all currently active playing rugby schools participate. While several other schools are at the re-introduction stage with long-term goals of having regional school games as eliminations towards the national games for all four regions which are Hhohho, Manzini, Shiselweni and Lubombo.
Worth noting is that Manyovu High School, Mabhensana and Hlatikhulu Central High have active teams for both boys and girls and the festival will also serve as qualifiers of four teams.
